Channapatna is a small town in Ramanagara district, Karnataka and it is located in Bangalore to Mysore highway. It is also called "town of toys city" because of the number of traditional toys manufacturing industry. The wooden toys of channapatna accounts for their traditional speciality and is known globally. This traditional craft is protected as a geographical indication (GI) under the World Trade Organization, administered by the Government of Karnataka. Bavas Miyan who dedicated his entire life to skillful artisans through Japanese technology of toys making and helped local artisans to improve their skills of toys making. Today Artisans use ivory-wood, rubber, sycamore, cedar, pine and teak to make these beautiful toys. These toys are eco friendly and harmless to kids.
