Kondapalli is a town in Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh and 16 km away from Vijayawada. Kondapalli is famous for its Kondapalli Fort built by Prolaya Vema Reddy of Kondaveedu during the 14th century and toys known as Kondapalli bommalu. The artistic Kondapalli toys are made from the light wood locally called Tella Poniki and painted with natural natural dyes. These are hand made toys made by local artisans. Some of the famous characters are Dasavatarams - ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu elephants with Ambari, palanquin, Village couple, mariage procession etc. If you are planing to visit Vijayawada, do not forget to add Kondapalli in your travel list.
